Recording Dates

Dates are recorded the way they are in most of the world: Day, Month, Year (not Month, Day, Year, as is the tradition in the United States). To avoid any possibility of confusion, we spell out the full name of the month. It is also important to use all four digits of the year, to be certain which century is being discussed. Thus, we would not say either 9/12/1819 (U.S.) or 12/9/1819 (the rest of the world), but 12 September 1819.
